Speaker Bios 

Paula Cloghessy, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, Chief Human Resources Officer, Translate Bio

Paula serves as Translate Bio’s Chief Human Resources Officer and is responsible for leading human resources and organizational development. With over 20 years of experience as a human resources leader driving aggressive organizational strategy, growth and innovation, Paula brings broad-based business experience in biotech and pharmaceutical industries to her role on the Translate team. Paula joined Translate from Joule Unlimited Technologies, Inc., where she most recently served as vice president, human resources. In this role, she was responsible for leading Joule’s people strategy and talent architecture in a global setting. Prior to Joule, she held senior HR leadership roles at Interleukin Genetics, NUCRYST Pharmaceuticals and the Immune Disease Institute (formerly CBR Institute for Biomedical Research), a Harvard Medical School affiliate. Paula holds a BA in psychology from the University of Massachusetts and professional designations in the field of human resources.

Erik Rocheford, MS, Director of Business Development, Stratacuity

Erik leads Stratacuity’s business development efforts for new and existing relationships. Having worked several years as an early discovery in-vivo pharmacologist, Erik has a deeper scientific knowledge than many. He has earned a reputation for providing outstanding client service and his team is known for placing high-quality talent. His vast referral network and local market expertise have allowed him to become a trusted resource of Boston’s biopharmaceutical hub. Erik is passionate about new trends in the drug discovery community and enjoys contributing to team growth and overall workplace efficiency. 

Tom Hamilton, Talent Acquisition Lead, Magenta Therapeutics

Tom Hamilton has been recruiting in the BioPharm community on a local and global level for the past 17 years.  Currently the Talent Acquisition lead at Magenta Therapeutics, he has held various Talent Acquisition roles at companies that range from agency to start up to Big Pharma including Millennium, Wyeth, Novartis, bluebirdbio, and Sage Therapeutics.

Gang Yao, PhD, Immunology Group Leader, Affinivax Inc.

Gang Yao has risen through the ranks at Affinivax from Scientist to Immunology Group Leader. After obtaining his doctorate in Biochemistry from the University of New Hampshire, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital where he studied signaling pathways involved in polycystic kidney disease and epilepsy. During this postdoc, Dr. Yao was awarded an American Heart Association Fellowship,. He has co-authored 12 peer reviewed publications and has 1 issued patent.
