Molecular Biologist at Transition Bio
Transition Bio is an innovative, early-stage biotechnology company with the vision of being the world leader in the discovery, analysis and modulation of biological condensates. The company is driven by hypothesis-free drug discovery and develops a first-in-class technology platform for condensate analysis and drug screening. We’re looking for a talented, dedicated, passionate molecular biologist to join our team and help us pioneer the field of biological condensates. The scientist will assume a critical role responsible for developing and producing different types of sequencing libraries. The candidate will help with building the company’s sequencing core. The applicant must have skills, the ability to deliver against challenging commitments and enjoy working in a truly multidisciplinary environment. The position will interact closely with process development and bioinformatics teams. The scientist must have a BS/MS in cell biology or related field with 2+ years of experience. It is crucial that the applicant is able and willing to respond quickly to the needs of a rapidly developing start-up.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform lab work related to sequencing workflows, including DNA/RNA isolation, sample normalization and quality control.
Prepare libraries for DNA/RNA sequencing, (RNA-Seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, single cell RNA-seq, 10x genomics workflow and amplicon sequencing).
Operate and maintain Illumina NGS instrumentation (MiSeq and NextSeq).
Develop standardized protocols for NGS data generation.
Develop and incorporate liquid handling automation into standard NGS workflows.
Evaluate novel technologies and platforms for NGS sequencing.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in an electronic laboratory notebook.
Collaborate with computational biology team to develop in house pipelines for analysis, quality control, and data visualization.
Work with discovery groups on experimental design and present results at group/team meetings.
Required Qualifications:
BS/MS degree with minimum 2 years of experience in an academic or industry setting.
Extensive experience with RNA and DNA preparation, library preparation and quality control.
Hands-on experience using NGS platforms, software and instrumentation (miSEQ and NextSeq).
Experience with quality control and analysis approaches for NGS
Demonstrated ability to organize and log samples, design, execute and troubleshoot experiments.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with chromatin and epigenetic profiling techniques (CHiP-seq, ATAC-seq), single-cell RNA-seq would be a plus.
Familiarity with the development of automated SOPs for NGS is a plus.
Preferred experiences working in a core/centralized lab and managing multiple concurrent projects across multidisciplinary teams.
