Seeking Developer/Instructor for Online HEARING SCIENCE Course
Summary: This position is for development and eventual instruction of a Hearing Science course in an online, asynchronous, learning-management system (LMS) environment. This course will be a new offering within our Online Prerequisite Program.
The Hearing Science course will be a 3-credit lecture. The ideal candidate should be well-versed in standard curriculum for college-level Hearing Science and Audiology. Our program focuses on preparing students for healthcare professions with this course serving those interested in a career in audiology. Healthcare experience and/or the ability to relate Hearing Science to hearing healthcare is highly desirable. The ideal candidate should be dedicated to student engagement and a high-touch experience for students through remote learning.
Responsibilities for course development include:
1. Work with program director, team lead, instructional design team with input from professional program faculty as needed.
2. Development of course syllabi including course description, objectives, policies, grading practices, and content planner.
3. Identification of course textbook.
4. Development of lecture materials including instructional materials, assignments, and assessments.
Responsibilities for course instruction include:
1. Regular communication with students through LMS discussion boards, email, and live video sessions
2. Grading/feedback of student assignments
3. Regular updates to course material
4. Collaboration with institute resources (Instructional Design Services and Office for Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) to ensure online content maximizes learner engagement and reflects the values of IHP
Education and Experience: AuD and/or PhD, teaching experience (2-3 years), experience teaching online, background in LMS learning systems (preferably D2L), strong communication skills
Start Date: Development for the course can begin as soon as a candidate is hired. Ideally, the course will be developed in Spring 2023, approved in Summer 2023, and offered for the first time in Fall 2023. While we re-evaluate mutual partnerships between instructors and the program each semester, an ideal candidate would be interested in a multiple-semester commitment.
Qualifications Required:
AuD and/or PhD, teaching experience
Qualifications Preferred:
Online learning experience
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology
Pay:
Anticipated pay is $2300/credit. We reserve the right to cancel the course or adjust compensation based on enrollment.
