Postdoc in Behavioral Neuroscience- Kentner Lab- MCPHS

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral fellowship in the behavioral neuroscience laboratory at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, in the School of Arts and Sciences. This position is funded through an active NIMH grant to study sex-differences in inflammatory-induced perinatal programming and the underlying mechanisms that promote resiliency. Using rodent models, we assess behavioral performance using a variety of translational behavioral tasks including several sociability metrics, prepulse inhibition, touchscreen technology, and other indices of emotional reactivity. Neuroendocrine and neurobiological correlates are also evaluated using standard approaches such as ELISA, western blotting, immunochemistry, and qPCR. The position would be particularly well-suited for a candidate considering a career at a small liberal arts/health sciences university or in industry.

  • Conduct behavioral experiments, perform neuroanatomical techniques and some biochemical approaches

  • Plan independent research projects and analyze and publish the results

  • Prepare grant proposals

  • Assist the Principal Investigator in the supervision of undergraduate and graduate students to ensure good laboratory practice, scientific rigor, and safe engagement in meritorious research projects

  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor

  • Requirements

    Required:

    • PhD degree in psychology, neuroscience, physiology, or a related discipline

    • Demonstrated expertise in animal handling and the use of fluorescence microscopy, cellular imaging/microscopy, and molecular biology techniques (RT-PCR, western blotting)
